You are a humble pumpkin farmer. You're trying to automate your farming process to get the most of your precious crop, but animals 

SPONTANEOUSLY

appear out of nowhere to eat your crops. By spending pumpkins to buy upgrades that do things like increase your pumpkin yield or provide helpers to do the busy work for you, you can achieve your dream of being the world's greatest pumpkin farmer.

CONTROLS

It's just left click. Click on an empty tile to plant a crop, click on a pumpkin to harvest it, click on an animal to scare it away, and click on a sidebar option to gain that upgrade. You can also press Escape to open the pause menu, but why would you pause during an idle game?

Submission to the RIT Game Development Club's Fall 2023 Game Jam, and made in 45 hours.
Theme - Spontaneous

11/21/23: THE BELATED MINOR UPDATE

This will likely be the only update this game has, as the entire team has been busy with other stuff, and we didn't expect this random game jam submission to suddenly gain any amount of traction. We wanted to leave with something more playable, though, so we fixed a number of issues that people had with the game. Changes include the following: 

• Downscaled the resolution so that the game doesn't take up the entirety of most displays
• Made the game run in the background like an idle game should
• Fixed the credits screen being displaced vertically and hiding the exit button
• A maximum of 15 animals can spawn at a time, decreased from as many as the game could handle
• Animals will now run away on their own after having a few snacks
